Todd Throop
Development Engineering Manager
Todd joined TowHaul in 1997 while
working on a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering at Montana State
University (MSU). During this time, Todd had the opportunity to work
closely with company founder Frank Smith to tailor his curriculum to meet
the needs of TowHaul engineering. He has assisted with several prototype
projects and patent support. In 2005, Todd was asked to lead the production engineering
team and to work on increasing throughput in the engineering department. By
2010, Todd’s team had almost tripled the number of projects per year going
through the engineering department. With the team and
processes established, this allowed Todd to put more focus on the development
portion of the projects, with a specific emphasis on continuous improvement and
standardization of TowHaul products. This led to a new option for a towing design
that has since been patented and will soon be available to customers. In
2018, Todd shifted his focus to new product development. When Todd is not
in the office, you can find him hiking and hunting in the Montana mountains.
